Recognition of Universities Selected for the "Cooperative Universities" Promotion Project

 In order to further promote university-wide regional collaboration initiatives, Kyoto City and the Consortium of Universities Kyoto are implementing the "Gakumachi Collaborative Universities" promotion project as a new project this fiscal year to support universities that are engaged in the development and implementation of practical educational programs in which students learn through activities in collaboration with local communities.
As a result of the examination by the selection committee by experts, six universities will be certified as selected universities for the "Cooperative Universities" promotion project, and an accreditation ceremony will be held.

Supporting universities promoting collaboration with local communities ≫ new projects in ≪ 2016! Call for Projects to Promote "Cooperative Universities for Academic Communities"

 Kyoto City is a "university town and student city" where 38 universities and junior colleges are concentrated, and 145,000 students, which is about 10% of the population, study. In order to utilize the "accumulation of university education and research results" and "student vitality," which can be said to be the assets of Kyoto, to solve local issues and revitalize local issues, and to create opportunities for students to learn and grow through involvement with the local community, we have implemented the "Gakumachi Collaboration Project" to support the efforts of seminar units and student groups.

 In order for Kyoto City and the Consortium of Universities Kyoto to further enhance and develop these initiatives in the future, it is necessary to link them to the organizational efforts of the university in addition to the efforts of seminars and student groups.

Therefore, in order to promote such university-wide regional cooperation initiatives, Kyoto City and the Consortium of Universities Kyoto will collaborate to newly implement the "Gakumachi Cooperative University" Promotion Project, which supports universities that are engaged in the development and implementation of practical educational programs in which students learn through activities in collaboration with local residents' organizations, civic action groups, local companies, shopping districts, etc.

 Therefore, we would like to inform you that we are calling for eligible initiatives as follows.

 Universities and junior colleges (hereinafter referred to as "universities") that have campuses where students attend in Kyoto City. Rector (1 university 1 application. Applications cannot be made by faculties or departments).

 * Excluding universities that have been selected as applying universities for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's University COC Project and COC+.

University COC Project
From the 2013 academic year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has collaborated with

local governments to form a university that will be the core of regional revitalization and revitalization.   

 From the 2015 academic year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) will develop the "University COC Project" and collaborate with local governments and companies to create attractive employment opportunities for students, and support the efforts of universities to reform the educational curriculum necessary to develop human resources required by the region.

Initiatives eligible for subsidies

 Efforts to develop, implement, enhance, and develop practical educational programs for students to learn through activities in collaboration with local residents' organizations, civic action groups, local companies, shopping districts, etc. in Kyoto City.

Subsidy amount and subsidy period

 Subsidy amount: 3,600 thousand yen (maximum) / case in fiscal 2016 (Heisei 28)
