【Panel Discussion】

In recent years, the need for IR (institutional research*) in universities has been called for, and many universities have begun to work on business operations based on IR.
On the other hand, although the term "IR" itself has become more well known, each university is independently exploring how to use it, and it cannot be said that what can be called a model case has been established.
In this symposium, we will invite faculty and staff in charge of IR at each of the three universities located in Melbourne, Australia, and report on their use cases at each university to consider how to utilize educational IR in Japan.
*IR (Institutional Research): Refers to an initiative to aggregate and analyze various numerical values and data surrounding universities and use them to improve university management and education.
<Special Open Lecture>

Lecturer: Mr
. Richard James (Vice Chancellor, Student Engagement / Director, Higher Education Research Centre, Professor, University of Melbourne, Australia)
In 2009 and 2010, the University Consortium Kyoto conducted FD training for faculty and staff in charge of FD at the University of Melbourne Center for Higher Education Research in Australia, which is known for its research and practice on higher education.
This year, in order for as many people as possible to experience this FD training, we will invite Mr. Richard James, Director of the Higher Education Research Centre at the University of Melbourne, who supervised and lectured this FD training, to Kyoto to hold a workshop.
Through lectures and workshops, we will think about how to design and operate an organized FD on campus and how to do so effectively.
