Overview of the business
Approximately 50 universities and organizations that are members of the University Consortium Kyoto offer unique lifelong learning courses. The "University Relay Course" was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto in a relay format by each university in order to let the public know about various unique courses that make use of the characteristics of each university, other than the courses previously provided to Kyoto College, and was launched this fiscal year.

1st session: Saturday, May 28, 2016 Ryukoku University
"Creatures Talking in Kaori"
Instructor: Kaori Shiojiri (Lecturer, Faculty of Agriculture)
Based on his own research results, he introduces how the "kaori" (smell) emitted by plants becomes a word, and the plants that emit the smell communicate with various other creatures.
2nd session: Saturday, June 18, 2016 Kyoto Institute
of Technology "Traditional Fermented Foods in Kyoto and Pimpin Colori-type Healthy Longevity Society"
Instructor: Shingo Izawa (Associate Professor, Department of Applied Biology, Graduate School of Industrial Science and Technology) With the advent of a super-aging society,
the increase in medical and nursing care costs is a serious problem. In order to reduce these expenditures and aim for a "Pimpin Colori-type" healthy longevity society in which people live longer and more actively, we will explain the role and potential of traditional fermented foods in Kyoto.

"Differences between Religion and Psychology: Focusing on Buddhist Perspectives"

In recent years, there has been a growing movement between religion and psychology to cooperate to respond to the various mental worries of modern people, but can religion and psychology really be regarded as equivalent? I would like to approach this question from the perspective of Buddhism in particular.

Dainen Kyogen""

The "Saga Dainen Kyogen" handed down at the ancient Seiryo-ji Temple in Sagano is counted as one of the three major Nenbutsu Kyogen in Kyoto, along with Mibu Kyogen and Senbon Enmado Kyogen. In this course, we will explain the origins of the system and the points of appreciation while talking about the aspects.

"What do people live for in the world of humanities?"

The humanities are the study of the past literature and looking at the society in which one lives. It is an academic discipline to discover the problems of the society in which one lives and to search for solutions. I would like to think about how to live and go in a chaotic modern society with Oussouby Sako, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities.

"Sending from the City of Kyoto: How to Pay the Disaster of the City of Kyoto-What will you do then?" -」

In Kyoto, an international tourist city, there are many dangers of not only natural disasters but also man-made disasters. In this course, we invite experts in disaster countermeasures as lecturers and introduce problems that occurred in life-saving activities and the basic concept of disaster countermeasures, taking past disasters as examples. Through this course, I would also like to think about what to do as a citizen in the event of a disaster and what to do to avoid encountering it.

"Astronomy that sees 'weight'"
