This time, with the revised Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities coming into effect in April 2024, and each university providing support in accordance with the revised Act, we will hold a training session for university faculty and staff on &#8220;How to Respond to Students with Disabilities&#8221; as described below. We look forward to your participation.\n<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"pageLink02\">Event Overview<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \u7b2c1\u56de\u3053\u3053\u304b\u3089 --><\/p>\n<h3>Session 1<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/page\/150623\/2026-01_theme.webp\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"Thematic Training Session 2, FY2026\"><\/p>\n<dl>\n<dt>1. the purpose<\/dt>\n<dd class=\"mb1 ml2\">\n\u3000This training program is designed for staff working in academic and student affairs departments, providing them with an opportunity to learn the fundamental principles necessary for supporting students with disabilities. It is also open to faculty and staff who have been assigned to support students with disabilities due to personnel changes, as well as staff from other departments. <br \/>\n\u3000In light of the revised Disability Discrimination Elimination Act coming into effect in April 2024, this program will serve as an opportunity to systematically learn about the meaning of reasonable accommodation and how to provide support based on it.\n<\/dd>\n<dt>2. The starting point for this salon was the perplexing inquiries that the Disability Student Support Office received daily from many faculty members. &#8220;I received a document requesting accommodations for a student, but it is difficult to accept this request.&#8221; &#8220;If we provide accommodations, the student will not be able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to earn credits, but is it okay to allow that?&#8221; <br \/>\nWe answer these questions based on the so-called &#8220;principle of not altering the essence,&#8221; but it is often difficult to provide answers that are tailored to the individual circumstances.
