The beginning of this can be seen in a Facebook group with over 20,000 members, &#8220;A group to share wisdom and information about what university faculty should and want to do in response to the impact of COVID-19&#8221; (the name was changed on October 9th from &#8220;A group to share wisdom and information about what university faculty should do in response to COVID-19 class closures&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tTherefore, this symposium will explore the existence and role of universities in a declining population, globalization, and VUCA era based on the experience of COVID-19. a university? Beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, into a new era,&#8221; was held online using Zoom for four days on February 20th (Sat), 21st (Sun), 27th (Sat), and 28th (Sun), 2021. <br \/>\n\t\u2003The FD Forum, organized by the University Consortium Kyoto, has been held since 1995 with the aim of improving the quality of higher education and disseminating information on FD activities from Kyoto, and this year marks the 26th time it has been held. <br \/>\n\t\u2003This time, in the unprecedented situation of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the overall theme was &#8220;Again, what is a university? Beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, into a new era,&#8221; to once again question the nature of &#8220;universities&#8221; and to provide an opportunity to think about &#8220;universities&#8221; in the next era. <br \/>\n\t\u2003On the first day, a symposium, poster session, and information exchange session were held, and on the second to fourth days, 11 subcommittees with diverse themes were held. <br \/>\n\t\u2003693 university faculty members and education-related personnel from all over the country gathered to share reports on research results and practices on improving education, and engaged in lively discussions. <br \/>\n\t\u2003The symposium on the first day, &#8220;Can new models be developed for university education, research, and social contribution?
