University education has also accumulated know-how in synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, as well as hybrid classes that combine face-to-face and distance learning. These teaching formats will likely continue to be used even after COVID-19 has subsided. Part of the identity of university education, which is &#8220;coming to a university campus and receiving face-to-face classes from faculty who are experts in their field,&#8221; has been lost, and the &#8220;places&#8221; of university education have become more diverse. Now that this is the time to rethink the nature of university education, isn&#8217;t it? In this context, a variety of practices that &#8220;utilize what exists while creating something that does not exist&#8221; are being developed in university education. For example, from credit transfer to collaborative opening, from general education to liberal arts, from FD to pre-FD, these movements are positioned as a reexamination of universities, community collaboration, and the existence and role of faculty. The <br \/>\n\t\u2003FD Forum, organized by the University Consortium Kyoto, has been held since 1995 with the aim of improving the quality of higher education and disseminating information on FD activities from Kyoto, and this year marks the 27th time it has been held. <br \/>\n\t\u2003Given that university education spaces have become more diverse due to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as responding to online classes, the overall theme for this forum was &#8220;Rethinking the &#8216;Place&#8217; of University Education&#8221; to provide an opportunity to reconsider the &#8220;place&#8221; of universities. <br \/>\n\t\u2003On the first day, Symposium 1 and a poster session were held, and on the second to fourth days, 12 subcommittees with diverse themes were held, and on the fourth day in the afternoon, Symposium 2 and an information exchange session were held. <br \/>\n\t\u2003500 university faculty and staff members and education-related personnel from all over the country gathered to share reports on research results and practices for improving education, and engaged in lively discussions. <br \/>\n\t\u2003Symposium 1, &#8220;Rethinking the &#8216;Place&#8217; of University Education &#8211; Towards a Post-COVID Era,&#8221; featured three speakers: Mr. Masao Aikawa (Director of the Academic Affairs Department, Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Kyoto College of Foreign Studies), Mr. Takero Nishino (Full-time Lecturer, Educational Development and Learning Support Office\/Faculty of Business Administration, Kyoto Tachibana University), and Mr. Shintaro Ohashi (Associate Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, Niigata University) (Coordinator: Ms. Aya Hatada (Associate Professor, Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Kyoto College of Foreign Studies)). <br \/>\n\t\u2003Symposium 2, &#8220;The Future of Subjects, Liberal Arts, and Faculty: Looking Ahead to University Education After the COVID-19 Pandemic,&#8221; featured three speakers: Shimizu Kazuhiko (Director and Vice President (Planning, Evaluation, and Internal Control) of Yamanashi University), Fujita Kiyoshi (Managing Director of the Mitsubishi Mirai Foundation), and Sezaki Hayato (4th year student in the Department of Education and Culture, Faculty of Sociology, Doshisha University) (Coordinator: Yamaguchi Hironori, Professor, Institute for General Education Promotion, Ritsumeikan University).\n<\/p>\n<dl style=\"width: 50%; float: left; text-align: center;\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/page\/51\/20220329_01.png\" alt=\"image2\" width=\"auto\" height=\"163.99px\"><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<dl style=\"width: 50%; float: right; text-align: center;\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/page\/51\/20220329_02.png\" alt=\"image2\" width=\"300\"><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\t\u2003In addition, in the online poster session held on the first day, a total of 11 educational practice case studies were presented by member schools of the University Consortium Kyoto. 83 people participated, and there were lively exchanges, with active questions being asked.<\/p>\n<dl style=\"width: 50%; float: left; text-align: center;\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/page\/51\/20220329_03.png\" alt=\"image2\" width=\"300\"><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<dl style=\"width: 50%; float: right; text-align: center;\">\n<dt><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8902\" src=\"https:\/\/www.consortium.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/page\/51\/20220329_04.png\" alt=\"image2\" width=\"300\"><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\t\u2003On the second to fourth days, 12 breakout sessions were held on a wide range of topics of interest to those involved in university education. <br \/>\n\t\u2003This was the second time the symposium was held online this year, and in each session lively discussions were held using Zoom&#8217;s Q&amp;A and chat functions.
