On the other hand, there are probably many FD staff at each university who feel that there are few participants or that they cannot gain understanding within the university when conducting FD training on campus. In some cases, the staff themselves may think that they are performing their duties as they were told to do so from above, or may have doubts about the way the national government and the Central Council for Education are promoting FD and so-called &#8220;university reform&#8221;. In this symposium, we will take a moment to think about the current situation surrounding universities and the trends and significance of so-called &#8220;university reform&#8221; including FD. As a result, member countries are required to work towards achieving 17 goals and 169 targets by 2030, including issues such as the environment, poverty, conflict, education, and food. How can higher education contribute to this? Based on a basic understanding of the SDGs, we will explore clues to the challenges that will pave the way for the future by looking at practical examples of achieving the SDGs without calling them
