【For Students】2026 Presentation on Kyoto in English Implementation Overview

“What is the charm of Kyoto?” “What kind of country is Japan?” Why don’t you actually experience traditional Japanese culture and learn the know-how of English presentations so that you can introduce them in English when asked by people from overseas?
Students who are planning to study abroad, are interested in studying abroad in the future, or want to explain about Kyoto and Japan to overseas people in Japan, and who are not good at English presentations! Why don’t you learn English while having fun with like-minded friends beyond the boundaries of your university? 
🌸🌸 Overview 🌸🌸 of “Presentation of Kyoto in English”

Through the experience of traditional culture in Kyoto and Japan, a total of seven half-day training sessions will be held to acquire presentation skills in English.

Training dates and scheduled contents (7 sessions in total):
1. Saturday , May 23, 2026 :(1) Ice Break, Introduction to Japan and Kyoto ~Learning about Japan and Kyoto in English~
(2) Learn expressions related to traditional Japanese culture in English
2. Saturday, May 30, 2026: Temple tour and classroom study *Visit a temple related to the imperial family, which is usually closed to the public.
3. Saturday , June 6, 2026: Traditional Culture Experience I. (1) Tea Ceremony Experience (2) Tea Ceremony Culture in English
4. Saturday, June 13, 2026: Guided experience at a temple, zazen meditation, and city walk (international student exchange meeting)
*We will walk around the city in a group while guiding international students in English!
5. Saturday , June 20, 2026 : Traditional Culture Experience II. (1) Flower Arrangement Experience (2) Let’s talk about Kyoto’s famous places, events, food, clothing, and housing in English
6. Saturday , June 27, 2026 : Presentation English Manuscript Correction Course (Online only)
7. Saturday , July 4, 2026: Individual English Presentation

Time: 13:00~16:30 (with breaks)

◎Location: Campus Plaza Kyoto, etc. (Transportation within Kyoto City is available depending on the content of the training)

◎Eligibility: All of the following conditions must be met.
1. Be a Japanese student at a member university, graduate school, or junior college of the University Consortium Kyoto (undergraduate, master’s, doctoral degree is not required)
2. Be able to participate in all training sessions
3. Your English score must be one of the following:
  IELTS 5.0 or above / TOEFL iBT 50 or higher / TOEIC 600 points / Eiken level 2 or higher
4. Interested in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding

◎Capacity: 20 people *First-come, first-served basis 
◎Course fee: 5,000 yen (total amount for all 7 sessions, including reference materials and actual expenses for exercises)
*Please pay in cash (as much as possible) on the first May 23 (Sat).
*Please bear the transportation costs related to transportation during the course.
◎Application period: April 9, 2026 (Thursday) noon application start ~ May 9, 2026 (Saturday) noon deadline
