Overview
The Common Viewing System is a system that can be used mainly to browse materials held by the libraries of member universities and junior colleges of the University Consortium Kyoto by simply presenting an ID card (student ID card, faculty ID card), etc.
*Some libraries of universities and junior colleges do not participate, so please check in advance.
The purpose of the common reading system is to revitalize education and research and improve user services by taking advantage of the number and characteristics of the libraries of each participating university and junior college. A number of consortium-type common reading systems have already been implemented in other regions, and the mutual use through simple procedures has been highly praised by users.
Please note that the terms of use (operation start date, usage method, time zone, services provided, etc.) vary depending on each university library, so please be sure to check the “User Guide” in the “List of Participating Universities and Junior College Libraries” of the University Consortium Kyoto Common Reading System in advance. We look forward to your active use.
In order to build a common reading system that transcends the framework of national, public, and private universities, the University Consortium Kyoto has established a common reading project within the Library Joint Project Review Committee since 2003 and has been promoting specific initiatives. In May 2005, the outline of the project was summarized, and the Board of Directors and Trustees meeting held on October 22 of the same year proposed and approved the launch of a common reading system.
