Outline of Kyoto Student Festival Project

Business summary

The 21st Kyoto Student Festival Main Visual

The Kyoto Student Festival is a major event that has been held in front of Heian Shrine and Okazaki Promenade every October since 2003, attracting more than 100,000 visitors. This is a student-produced festival that can only be done by university students studying in the city of students, Kyoto.

After the 18th Kyoto Student Festival was held online for the first time in history, the 19th Kyoto Student Festival Main Festival was held as the first hybrid that fused online and offline. Last year’s 20th Kyoto Student Festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary, was held face-to-face for the first time in three years, hoping to reflect on the history up to now and connect to the future Kyoto Student Festival. On the day of the event, the time was shortened due to the rain, but a large number of people visited and watched the event, and it was a great success.

Theme of the 21st Kyoto Student Festival

Fly, soar! ~The Power of Students Shining in Kyoto~

About the theme

With the 20th anniversary coming to an end, the 21st Kyoto Student Festival will once again be a celebration of “going forward” toward a new future.
For this reason, with the cooperation of industry, academia, the public sector, and the local community, we decided to make it a “Kyoto festival by students,” where Kyoto students take the initiative from planning to running the event. will fly through this festival and make it a shining year. In addition, instead of using the two letters “Flying”, the Kyoto Student Festival will take the lead in calling out to students and leading them by using the expression “Fly, soar!” Through the Kyoto Student Festival, we will revitalize Kyoto, have visitors enjoy themselves, and let the Kyoto Student Festival “fly” into one of the “Kyoto Four Great Festivals.”

Project overview

For the 21st Kyoto Student Festival Main Festival, as the first step toward the 30th anniversary, we decided to make it a festival that all university students in Kyoto know when the Kyoto Student Festival reaches its 30th anniversary. Aim.
We will realize a festival that conveys the charm of the Kyoto Student Festival to visitors, with the strong point of the Kyoto Student Festival being the powerful dance and music performances of the students. We are also planning hands-on programs and food programs. In addition, we will cherish the connection up to 20 times, and will not only know about the Kyoto Student Festival, but also carry out activities so that we can participate.

The 21st Kyoto Student Festival Annual Activities

At the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, we will communicate our daily gratitude by interacting with people in the Okazaki area, the venue of the Kyoto Student Festival, and with the people who have been involved in our activities so far. We are building a cooperative relationship with all.
Aiming not only for the main festival, but also for a “festival” that is loved and rooted in the community, we will carry out daily activities together with everyone in the community throughout the year.

Dance performance/Delivery classroom

Kyoen Sodefure at various places inside and outside Kyoto!
and lectures (commonly known as home delivery classes) at elementary and junior high schools and special needs schools in Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoen Sodefure! We are working to have more people experience the charm of the Kyoto Student Festival. In addition, university students interact with people of many generations in the area through dance, which leads to the revitalization of the area.

Last year, I had many opportunities to dance, such as the closing ceremony of the Junior Chamber International Japan Kyoto Conference and the event of KBS Kyoto.
This year, we are also performing at events in each region.

Participating as student volunteers at children’s cafeterias in the Okazaki area and conducting night patrols for the safety of the community.
In addition to aiming to revitalize the region, we are working to deepen exchanges with local people and have more people in Kyoto know more about the Kyoto Student Festival.

International exchange

We actively engage in exchange activities with international students studying in Kyoto.
We convey the charm of Kyoto to international students, and conversely, we also learn various things from international students and give each other motivation.

Last year, we held an international student exchange event where we exchanged opinions on the culture and attractions of our home countries, as well as Kyoen Sodefure!
and deepened exchanges. The exchange meeting for international students is scheduled to be held this year as well. In addition, I was able to create an opportunity to interact with people who were evacuated from Ukraine, which led to an opportunity to think deeply about peace.

environmental activities

We are actively conducting cleaning activities under the theme of “KYO-SENSE”, which originated from the Kyoto Student Festival, which means “environmental initiatives that can be started today.”
Last year, we focused on picking up trash along the Kamo River and cleaning up the Okazaki area, which will be used for the main festival.
