FY2019

Overview of the business

The Kyoto Student Festival is a major student-led event that began in 2003 with the aim of enlivening Kyoto with the power of students, and this year marks the 17th time. This festival is planned and operated mainly by the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, which is organized by Kyoto students, and is unique in Japan because it is backed up by Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, economic organizations, universities, and local communities under an "All Kyoto" system.
In addition to planning and managing the Kyoto Student Festival held in October, the Executive Committee also actively conducts exchange activities throughout the year, such as petting activities using the original creative odori "Kyo Flame Sodefure!" born from the Kyoto Student Festival and participating in local events.
This year, the 17th edition of the festival, will be held under the theme of "From Kyoto to a new era together," and we will work hard every day to build up a new year.

About the theme

Aiming for a festival where everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival can feel the great potential of the "future of Kyoto" and feel hope for the new era that is about to begin, we will create new value together with companies, governments, universities, and the local community, and work on projects that expand the possibilities of the "city" of Kyoto, creating new value that can only be found in Kyoto and "trigger" that will lead to the future of Kyoto. We hope that the Kyoto Student Festival will become a presence that is needed even more in the city of Kyoto.

Purpose of the project

At the 17th Kyoto Student Festival Main Festival, we have been working to create a festival that involves more people so that students can convey their potential and energy to visitors, and not only make visitors smile naturally with the strength of the students, but also involve industry, academia, the public, the community, and all of Kyoto, and enliven the whole of Kyoto.
As an outline of the project, based on "a project where students' dreams begin" and "a project in which not only people from Kyoto but also tourists, international students, people with disabilities, and various other people can participate", we will incorporate projects that will allow more people than ever to visit the venue of this festival, and we will carry out projects that will allow you to feel the charm of each content and the festival, and feel the passionate energy of students.
We aim to make the Kyoto Student Festival more rooted in the community, loved and appealing to students, and more pervasive among students.
