Survey and Report on the Growth of Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee Members

Student Growth Program

The University Consortium Kyoto, which provides support to the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, supports students' daily activities based on the principle of "taking the initiative in conducting projects." The Student Executive Committee members who are active at Intercollege hope that the "exchange" and "experience" with a wide variety of people they come into contact with through independent activities will lead to new "awareness" and "learning" that will lead to the growth of students.
Specifically, we have adopted a PDCA cycle method that emphasizes the activities of the executive committee as a single project, working as a team toward a single goal, and producing results as a team. With the goal of smooth execution of activities, improvement of projects, and continuous development of projects, we are working to create a system that promotes student growth by promoting the following support methods.

PDCA Cycle at Kyoto Student Festival

    • Planning period (around November ~ May): Information gathering, awareness, planning, start training (goal setting)
    • Trial period (around May~September): Pre-planning (medium-sized project imitating the main festival)
    • Verification period (around June~August): Mid-term review meeting
    • Implementation period (October): Implementation of this project
    • Dissemination of results (around October ~ November): Holding post-review meetings and report meetings

Growth of Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee

According to the "Growth Survey of Executive Committee Members" conducted in FY2015 and FY2016, it was confirmed that the students on the Student Festival Executive Committee have significantly increased their "ability to collaborate." It is thought that the activities of the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee are characterized by the "large number of team activities" by students beyond the boundaries of the university, and the "encounters with diverse others" such as governments, economic organizations, and local people.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that the values obtained from the PROG test (*1) of the students of the Student Festival Executive Committee were comparable to those of model members (*2) in the items of "affinity," "cooperative skills," and "practical skills." In addition, this is a high figure compared to the number of students who have experienced PBL (*3), indicating that the activities of the Kyoto Student Festival contribute to the growth of students.

*1 PROG test… An assessment program jointly developed by Kawai Juku and Reasek Co., Ltd. to support
the growth of generic skills.
