FY2021

Overview of the business

The Kyoto Student Festival has been held every October since 2003 in the Heian Jingu and Okazaki Promenade areas, and is a major event that attracts more than 100,000 visitors. It is a student-produced festival that can be done by university students studying in Kyoto, a student town where students account for 10% of the population.

The 18th Kyoto Student Festival (held on October 11, 2020) was held online for the first time in history, and the total number of YouTube views was more than 27,000, and the special site had more than 39,000 PV, and the festival ended with great success without a single person infected with the new coronavirus.

On November 25, 2020, the 19th Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee was newly established, and the theme of the 19th Kyoto Student Festival was also decided. I would like to pursue the form of festivals that can only be made possible because Kyoto is a city of students, and enliven Kyoto.

The 19th Kyoto Student Festival Theme

Furetemihin? Kyoto Culture

About the theme

Kyoto is a region that has preserved its ancient traditions. However, we are standing at the turn of the times, affected by the spread of the new coronavirus infection and being asked to adopt a new lifestyle. Through this festival, we would like to connect the culture that has been passed down so far with the culture that is born from the new daily life. And by having people experience culture, we want to protect and connect all Kyoto culture to the future.

Outline of the project

At the 19th Kyoto Student Festival Main Festival, we are thinking of a festival suitable for the With Corona era so that the Kyoto Student Festival will continue to be a festival loved not only by Kyoto but also by people all over the country. In order to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infections, we plan to hold it in a hybrid format that combines online and offline. Taking advantage of the advantages of online and offline, we aim to create a new festival that can be participated in anywhere in the country and gain excitement.

The Kyoto Student Festival aims to be a "festival" that is loved and rooted in the community, as well as the main festival, and we will carry out daily activities throughout the year together with the local people.

Community Exchange Activities

Purpose of the project

The executive committee interacts with the Okazaki area, the venue of the Kyoto Student Festival, and local people who have been connected through past activities, expressing their gratitude on a daily basis and building a cooperative relationship for the festival. Last year, activities such as summer festivals and night patrols were canceled, but this year, while thoroughly implementing measures against infectious diseases, we would like to cooperate and give back to the local people through trial and error to see if there is a place for interaction with the local people who have been indebted to us so far. We will hold events that many people can easily participate in to create opportunities for exchange and revitalize the region.
