Conducting field surveys in municipal housing –
Free assignment 1 “Spatial composition and changes in municipal housing in the suburbs of Kyoto City and its surrounding residential areas”

In this survey/research theme, in collaboration with the Kyoto City Housing and Community Development Division, among the 99 municipal housing complexes in the city, the relationships between municipal housing in the suburbs and the surrounding areas are investigated. We are trying to clarify how the open space inside is used, and (3) the situation of the site boundary. It is expected that the results of the survey will be utilized in the future maintenance and reorganization of municipal housing.

On September 17th, research representative Tetsuya Masaki, a Ph.D. (The past two events were held in Yamashina Ward and Fushimi Ward in August)

In order to clarify the relationship between municipal housing and the surrounding area, photographs were taken of the boundaries between the site of municipal housing and the road and the site, and the dimensions and the width of the adjacent road were carefully taken. I will record it.
We will also check the state of the open space on the premises and the status of the entrance to the outside of the premises.

The appearance of the entrance, which is the boundary between the municipal housing and the site, is also important.

By analyzing the results of these surveys on multiple municipal housing and materials related to the transition of municipal housing, and deciphering the characteristics of the local environment around municipal housing, we will be able to identify future consolidation of municipal housing stock. It will be helpful for your consideration. Such research results have never been seen before.

The experiment of creating the future starts from the tea room –
Designated topic 2: Creating a place for interaction in the city center area

In this survey and research theme, we aim to foster merchants, business operators, and citizens who promote the rediscovery and creation of “regional value” through “creating a place for interaction” that makes use of the attractiveness of the regional resources that have been accumulated in the city center. and empirical research to form a network.

On the evening of August 27, a research group led by Professor Masanobu Nishimura of the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Kyoto Institute of Technology, collaborated with the Kyoto City Commercial Promotion Division to conduct a workshop titled “Development and Networking of Merchants and Citizens by Creating Opportunities for Interaction.” A new place of exchange was set up for the revitalization of commerce in the town.

A lot of ideas popped up.

A lot of ideas popped up.

In the “Future Session”, which was held with a surprising mechanism of creating a tea room with cardboard in a townhouse over 100 years old, participants with various attributes such as local merchants shared their vision of the future of the city with their eyes shining. Ideas necessary for making were put forward.

Based on these, various entities such as merchants, business operators, citizens, and artists will connect and create “places” to create. In a few years, the town may look completely different than it does now.
