Open campus information
Come to an open campus and get a feel for the atmosphere of a university campus!
There are plenty of events, such as mock classes and tours led by university students! Some of these events are open to first and second year students and their parents. Be sure to participate and learn more about the university of your dreams! Also, at the school festival , you can experience a university in a slightly different way than at an open campus.
Be sure to come and check it out!
*The dates listed may be subject to change without notice and advance reservations may be required, so please contact each university in advance.
Three steps to attending an open campus
Search by university name or a convenient date! During summer vacation, multiple universities may hold open campuses on the same day. But don’t worry! In Kyoto, the university campuses are close to each other, so it’s possible to visit multiple campuses! If you’re not sure, just go and see for yourself.
Once you have decided which university you want to attend, the first thing to do is to research that university. Each university has a comprehensive website for entrance exam information, so be sure to check it out! In addition to websites, many universities also accept requests for information materials, so it may be a good idea to request them.
It’s your first time visiting a university campus. What should you bring to the open campus? What should you wear? Let’s check it out!
□ Writing implements and memo pads
Be sure to take notes so you don’t miss anything you hear from people at your university! It’s also important to review your notes after you get home! Writing utensils and a notepad are essential.
□ A bag that can hold A4 size documents
You will likely be provided with materials by the university, so be sure to bring a bag that can hold A4-sized materials.
□ Clothes
You may wear either the uniform or your own clothes. However, please choose appropriate clothing that will not cause offense to the university. Also, since you will be walking around the campus a lot, choose shoes that you are comfortable wearing.
□ Heat stroke prevention goods
Open campuses are often held during the summer holidays, when it is easy for high school students to participate. When touring campuses, you will be exposed to sunlight for a long time, so it is essential to take measures against heatstroke in the hot summer. Bring a hat and drinking water. In recent years, it has been hot until around October, so carelessness is the enemy.
□ University area map and contact information
On the day, make sure to bring a map and a note with contact information in case you get lost or are late for a scheduled class. If you are attending a university in Kyoto City, we recommend using the Kyoto Walking Map from “Kyoto Tourism Navi”!
