[Event Report] About the 20th National University Consortium Research Exchange Forum

The purpose of the National University Consortium Research Exchange Forum is to exchange information on the efforts and research results of each university consortium in order to contribute to the development of higher education, and this year marks the 20th time.
The memorable 20th forum was co-hosted with the Fujinokuni Regional and University Consortium, a public interest incorporated association, and was held under the theme of “Creating a sustainable local community spun by a university consortium – A new vision for the post-corona era.” The event was held at Tokoha University’s Shizuoka Kusanagi Campus with the main theme of “Aiming to Create Value,” marking the first time it has been held in Shizuoka Prefecture.

234 university faculty members and education-related people participated from all over the country, and through keynote speeches, symposiums, and case reports and exchanges of opinions in breakout sessions, the event became a forum for exchanging information and reconsidering the ideal form of “university consortiums.”

The 20th Consortium of Universities Research Exchange Forum

Overview of the business

In order to contribute to the development of higher education, we exchange information on the efforts of each university consortium and research results.

Outline of the event

Theme

Creating Sustainable Local Communities Woven by University Consortium
~Aiming to Create New Value in Anticipation of the Post-Corona Era~

Purpose
of the tournament
At present, universities and other institutions of higher education play a variety of roles, not only for research, education for young people, and the production of human resources, but also as "knowledge hubs" that create innovation and bearers of regional culture.
On the other hand, in order to respond to a mountain of issues such as a declining birthrate and aging society, global environmental problems, the novel coronavirus infection, and the shift to a digital society, and to create a sustainable society, it is thought that it can only be realized by collaborating not only with higher education institutions alone, but also with various entities such as higher education institutions, governments, and industries, and through exchanges involving the local community.
Therefore, the purpose of this forum is to consider the various forms of collaboration that university consortiums have been involved in in order to create sustainable local communities in the future, and to envision the future form of university consortiums aiming to create new value in anticipation of the post-corona era.

Overview of the business

In order to contribute to the development of higher education, we exchange information on the efforts of each university consortium and research results.

Outline of the event

Theme

Aiming for the Enrichment of Higher Education and the Development of Local Communities
~Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of University Consortiums~

Purpose
of the tournament
The reconstruction of higher education and contributions to local communities through industry-academia-government collaboration as indicated in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Grand Design for Higher Education toward 2040" are the very themes that "Gakuen City Hachioji" has been working on for about half a century. As universities and other institutions return to the city center and a new campus image accompanying the shift to online due to the coronavirus pandemic is being considered, we would like to review the characteristics of "suburban campuses" that are different from "urban campuses" and the value of "university consortiums," and make this a place for people nationwide to think about the direction that the projects implemented by the university consortium should aim for and the means to achieve them.

Please take a look at examples of initiatives and advanced cases from all over Japan.
