Let’s go to the school festival in autumn!

Autumn is the season of school festivals!

Autumn is the season of school festivals. At each university and junior college, the executive committee members are making elaborate plans for the school festival. It is also interesting to see the individuality of each university, such as various projects and mock shops by each club and circle, and appearances by famous cultural figures, singers, and celebrities. Of course, it is attractive that not only university students, but also high school students and the general public can visit. Why don’t you experience a different university atmosphere that you can’t experience at an open campus? Here is all the information on each university’s school festival!

Kyoto Student Festival Project Overview

Students from Kyoto, who transcend the boundaries of universities, form an executive committee and engage in daily activities with the aim of disseminating “Kyoto as a student city” to society, further revitalizing the Kyoto area, and creating new attractions in collaboration with the business community, the government, the local community, and the university.
After a variety of community exchange activities throughout the year, such as the promotion of the original creative odori “Kyoen Sodefure!” and water sprinkling activities, a grand festival is held every October as the culmination of these activities.
The University Consortium Kyoto has set the goal of “student growth” in the daily activities of the Student Executive Committee, and is providing support aimed at “student independence” that allows students to think and act on their own, and supports the implementation of what has been accumulated in the course of activities since the establishment of the Executive Committee so that it can be maximized at the main festival in October.

What is Ancient City Curry?

The name comes from the fact that it is a curry made with ingredients from Kyoto (the ancient capital) and the wordplay of the name of the website “Kotokare” operated by the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department.
The curry recipe was developed with the cooperation of Associate Professor Semiko Yoshino of the Department of Food and Nutrition, Faculty of Home Economics, Kyoto Women’s University.
It is a curry made with Kyoto ingredients such as Fushimi chili peppers, Kyoto ginseng, and white miso as a secret ingredient. The spiciness is moderate, and the taste is perfect for junior high and high school students.

What is the Kyoto Student Public Relations Department?

(1) Activities
With the aim of making junior high and high school students nationwide want to study at a university in Kyoto and live a student life in Kyoto, university students studying in Kyoto gather to plan, interview, photograph, and create articles from the student’s point of view.

《Management media》Website “Kotokare” https://kotocollege.jp/

(2) Background of establishment
Kyoto City is home to 38 universities and junior colleges, and approximately 150,000 students, or 10% of the population, are a “university town and student town.” However, as the number of 18-year-olds declines over the long term and competition among universities is expected to intensify further, it is necessary to actively disseminate the appeal of Kyoto as a “university city and student city” to junior high and high school students who will become university students in the future.
Therefore, as a new initiative in the Heisei 27 academic year in collaboration with Kyoto City and the University Consortium Kyoto, we have established the “Kyoto Student Public Relations Department” to disseminate to junior high and high school students nationwide from the perspective of students the “real charm of Kyoto” that university students studying in Kyoto experience while living their student lives.
