On Saturday, January 24, the University Consortium Kyoto held the "Kyoto FDer Juku 2014: What is Curriculum Design?~Aiming for Consistent Curriculum Construction~" with 133 participants from member and non-member universities.

In recent years, in response to the need in the higher education industry to shift to an organized and systematic curriculum based on policy, Dr. Tatsuo Kawashima of the Institute for Future Strategies, Osaka University, gave a keynote speech on curriculum design based on the diploma policy, and then case reports were given by three universities that are working on specific curriculum reforms. Dr. Kenji Furuya (Professor, Institute of Core Education) of Kyushu University talked about the design and operation of the Institute of Core Education, Professor Nobuko Kawahara (Professor, Faculty of Nursing) of Kyoto Tachibana University talked about curriculum reform and gimmicks in the Faculty of Nursing, and Professor Shigeo Kikuchi (Dean and Professor of Tamagawa University) talked about liberal arts education and the contents of building a teaching management system.

In the second half, a panel discussion was moderated by Professor Takashi Yasuoka of Ritsumeikan University, a member of the training management team of the FD Planning and Research Committee of the University Consortium Kyoto. Based on the questions collected from the floor in advance, questions about the lectures and reports were answered and supplemented, and lively discussions were held.
