【For faculty and staff】2024 2nd Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting
“Thinking about the mental health of university students and class management -What can be done from the standpoint of a faculty member-” Registration is now open.

This year’s event, the second of the 2024 Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting, will be held under the theme of “Thinking about the Mental Health of University Students and Class Management: What You Can Do from the Standpoint of a Teacher.”

In recent years, there has been an increase in the enrollment rate of students who feel some kind of disability in conventional class management due to mental disorders and developmental disabilities, and the needs of these students at universities are diversifying. In addition, in modern class management, such as the mandatory reasonable accommodation and the spread of expectations for online classes, these factors are intricately intertwined, and in some cases, it may be difficult to deal with “what should be done and to what extent”. In addition to responding after the student consults with you, there may be things you can prepare for in advance.

Therefore, this training will be an opportunity to think together about how to deal with class management based on the concept of a “social model of disability” as a hint for dealing with these issues. First, you will learn the basic knowledge of mental health for university students, and then you will get an overview of the concept of the “social model of disability.” In addition, I would like to have the opportunity to think about tomorrow’s class management together while thinking about “what teachers can do” and “what they can do” from both the post and front perspectives, and at the same time, “what should not be done” based on the keywords “seven elements of reasonable accommodation,” “the role of the syllabus,” and “use of rubrics.”

This is not a “training session” but an “exchange meeting”, so please feel free to join us.
