FY2022

Overview of the business

As an organizational effort for faculty members to improve and improve the content and methods of classes, the University Consortium Kyoto has been promoting FD activities in the Kyoto area together with member schools since 1995, shortly after its establishment.

In fiscal 2019, we launched the Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting as a place for university faculty and staff to share ideas and concerns related to FD beyond the boundaries of their own universities, and to interact with university faculty and staff on various themes related to FD.

The 2022 Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting will be held three times under the unified theme of "a place for university education in the post-corona era."

University Education
in the Post-Corona Era Part 1 "Changing Trends of Applicants and Recent Entrance Examination Topics"
The 2022 Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting will be held under the unified theme of "a place for university education in the post-corona era," and this will be the first time it has been held.

In this first installment, we will consider university education from the perspective of "entrance examinations."
In the face of the evolution and spread of AI, globalization, and the decline in the working-age population due to the declining birthrate, fundamental reforms are being underway in high school education, university education, and university admissions that connect them, in order to develop human resources who can respond to unpredictable times.
At the first Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting in AY2022, we will invite a lecturer from the Kawai Juku Group to organize and tell us about the topics and trends of university entrance examinations over the past five years, how the common test will change in the new entrance examination from AY2025, a summary of the 2022 entrance examination, and the latest trends in the 2023 entrance examination for Kawai Juku Comprehensive Model Examination.

Why don't you work with faculty and staff from other universities to think about "future university education based on the latest entrance examination information" beyond the boundaries of universities?
This is not a "workshop" but an "exchange meeting", so please feel free to join us.

University Education
in the Post-Corona Era No.3 "Thinking about Active Learning in the Post-Corona Era"
In the midst of the changes in the environment caused by the Corona disaster, the teaching method at universities had to change significantly. It can be said that face-to-face classes did not impose a physical or psychological burden on active learning. However, from 2020 onwards, we had to consider using online software for remote use, securing classrooms that can ensure social distance, and conducting active learning with as little contact as possible.
In this exchange meeting, we would like to share information about the practice of active learning at your university during the Corona disaster. Even in the post-corona era, active learning classes will be increasingly required.
Why don't you go beyond the boundaries of universities and think about the future of "active learning" together with faculty and staff from other universities?
This is not a "workshop" but an "exchange meeting", so please feel free to join us.

Implementation Report

The 2022 Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting was held a total of three times, both face-to-face and online (Zoom meetings), with the unified theme of "a place for post-corona university education."
The first session was held face-to-face with the theme of "Changing Trends in Applicants' Aspirations and Recent Entrance Examination Topics" and was held face-to-face as an opportunity to think about how the criteria for students choosing universities have changed in the three years of the Corona disaster. After Mr. Masashi Okamoto (General Manager, Nishi Japan Sales Department, KEI Advance Co., Ltd., Kawai Juku Group) provided a topic, the participants were divided into groups, asked questions and gathered opinions, raised issues and questions not only in the post-corona era, but also in the changing entrance examination environment amid the progress of high school-university connection reform and the expected easing of competition, and shared information and exchanged opinions.
The second session was held online as an opportunity to think about DX in education, which has become even more talked about due to the Corona disaster, under the theme of "Educational DX from the Upgrading of University English Classes: From the Practice of Project-Initiated English Programs." After Mr. Shuhei Kimura (Associate Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences / Deputy Director, Faculty of Education, Ritsumeikan University) gave a case report based on data on the efforts of the project-based English program in English classes at Ritsumeikan University, the participants were divided into groups and asked "What is DX in education in the first place?" and "What is the level upgrade of faculty members necessary for DX?" Information sharing and opinion exchange took place.
The third session was held online under the theme of "Thinking about Active Learning in the Post-Corona Era" as an opportunity to think about teaching methods at universities that had to change significantly amid the changes in the environment caused by the Corona disaster, and the practice of active learning with as little contact as possible. After receiving a case report from Hitomi Asada (Associate Professor, Department of Early Childhood Education, Huading Junior College) on active learning methods in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Huading Junior College, information was shared and opinions were exchanged on teaching methods, tools (apps) used, and ingenuity based on their advantages and disadvantages.
When asked about the satisfaction level of the participant questionnaire, the combined score of "satisfied" and "somewhat satisfied" was 100% in all sessions, indicating that there was a high level of interest in the purpose and theme of this project.
Based on the opinions received from participants in the next fiscal year and beyond, we will plan and consider plans with the aim of making the exchange meeting even more substantial.
