Theme_2011

As the decade of the 2000s passes, how will society in the 21st century be imagined and formed? Just as each of us was about to answer this question, the Great East Japan Earthquake struck. Today Japan we are facing the unprecedented natural disasters of a major earthquake and tsunami, and the nuclear accident that caused them. After 3.11, our perspective on the future of society had to change dramatically.
Under these circumstances, what role will be required of universities and university consortiums in the future? To sustainably promote and develop higher education and scientific and technological research as in the past. In addition, the search for the common good to realize a world that enhances human happiness more than ever will be a major challenge. How can we harmonize scientific progress with the future of humankind, or how can we develop and propose new ideas, social systems, and social technologies? These issues are becoming a major mission that universities take the initiative in. Through the relationship between local communities, the governments, companies, and citizens who support them, universities must find answers to various issues.
The 8th National University Consortium Research Exchange Forum will be held under the theme of "Social Contribution of Universities in a New Regional Era" based on this recognition of the times. We will provide a place where people can talk and learn about the new relationship between the university and society, as well as the prospects and challenges for the future.
