Business overview
As a systematic initiative to help faculty improve their teaching content and methods, the University Consortium Kyoto has been promoting faculty development (FD) activities in the Kyoto region since its establishment in 1995, together with its member universities.
In 2019, it launched the “Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting” as a forum for university faculty and staff to share ideas and concerns about FD, transcending the boundaries of their respective universities, and to exchange ideas on various FD-related themes. The
Kyoto FD Exchange Meeting for 2026 will be held on Saturday, August 8th.

Generative AI is rapidly permeating research, classrooms, and learning environments, and the number of people utilizing AI is increasing. However, in reality, most uses are limited to simple tasks like “asking for answers” or “having summaries,” which are merely extensions of search engines. To unlock the true potential of AI, “linguistic dialogue skills” are required. When used effectively, we can gain new perspectives and develop our thinking abilities. Even more important than thinking skills is the attitude and mindset of critically, creatively, and autonomously engaging with AI, rather than simply demanding answers from it or ceasing to think in its presence. To facilitate better dialogue with AI, this training will explore, through practical exercises, what kind of “linguistic dialogue skills” are necessary to unlock AI’s capabilities. In the workshop, participants will: ① experience creating their own “future diary,” and ② learn about the design of “MIRAI Note” (Sanda City, Hyogo Prefecture), which was featured on NHK’s “Dear Nippon” (aired May 10th, currently available for paid streaming on NHK On Demand), and discuss with each other how to design AI. *Bring your own PC, no AI account required, and no specialized knowledge of programming or statistical analysis is necessary. |

- The workshop will use generative AIs such as ChatGPT and Gemini.
Participation is open to those who do not have an account with a generative AI. Even if you already have an account, the type of AI and plan (paid or free) do not matter.
However, if you already have an account, please turn off the AI’s “memory function” (the function that remembers and learns past conversations) before participating.
