Overview of the business

As an organizational effort for faculty members to improve and improve the content and methods of classes, the University Consortium Kyoto has been promoting FD activities in the Kyoto area together with member universities since 1995, shortly after its establishment.
Kyoto FD Executive Department Juku is an FD study group for university executives, including presidents.

2017 Kyoto FD Executive School

In 2016, the Standards for Establishing Universities were revised, and SD became mandatory from April 2017.
In order to enhance university management through collaboration between faculty and professions, the scope of this SD is not only administrative staff but also "faculty members such as professors, university executives such as presidents, technical staff, etc.", and universities and other organizations need to reconsider the concept of overall organizational management and promote the provision of training opportunities.
In response to the mandatory SD at the 2017 Kyoto FD Executive School, we invited a person in charge of the University Promotion Division of the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to discuss trends in university reform and expectations for faculty and staff who will be responsible for university management in the future, with the aim of providing each university and junior college executive department with the aim of providing reference when considering the future of university management from the perspective of teacher-professional collaboration. He will give a lecture titled.

in University Reform and Expectations for Faculty and Staff Who Will Be Responsible for University Management in the Future ~Through the Enhancement of SD and Promotion of Collaboration between Teachers~
Overview As the operations of universities become more complex and diversified, administrative staff and administrative organizations are required to play a more active role than ever before in order to further improve university management, strengthen the university executive staff, and strengthen the functions of the university as a whole. In this lecture, while touching on the latest trends in university reform, he will explain the contents of the most recent system revisions, such as the enhancement of SD and the promotion of collaboration between the teaching profession, and look at the future of university management.

Joined the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2004. After serving as Chief of the Professional Education Division of the Higher Education Bureau, Specialist Officer of the Elementary and Secondary Education Planning Division of the Bureau of Elementary and Secondary Education, and Director of the Compulsory Education Division of the Shizuoka Prefectural Board of Education, he has been in his current position since April 2017.

We welcomed 54 participants, mainly faculty and staff members of the university executive department, including the presidents of member universities and junior colleges, and Mr. Tsuyoshi Hayashi of the University Promotion Division of the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology gave a lecture titled "Trends in University Reform and Expectations for Faculty and Staff who will be responsible for university management in the future ~Through the enhancement of SD and promotion of collaboration between teachers~".
In the first half of the lecture, he explained the latest trends surrounding university reform, such as the "Basic Policy for the Creation of Towns, People, and Jobs 2017" and the institutionalization of professional universities, and in the second half, he talked about recent system revisions regarding university administrative staff and administrative organizations, and the enhancement of SD and promotion of teacher-professional collaboration based on the current situation of teacher-professional collaboration.
Finally, governance reform requires not only leadership, but also organizations to support it. He concluded his lecture by saying that he would like the university to improve its organizational structure and make effective use of resources inside and outside the university, aiming for more agile university management.
