Business overview
The aim of the event is to provide an opportunity for students who are conducting research to identify and solve urban issues to make a presentation, as well as to have a forum for research exchange with faculty members, so that they can present their results and deepen their own research. Outstanding presentations are awarded research encouragement prizes (Kyoto Prefectural Governor’s Award, Kyoto Mayor’s Award, University Consortium Kyoto Chairman’s Award, Japan Association for Public Policy Studies Award, etc.).
Event Outline
The 13th Kyoto Policy Research Exchange Conference
This year marks the 13th time since the event began in 2005, and the presentation theme is “Urban Policy in General.” We are calling for research presentations on policies to solve urban issues from the perspectives of various fields, including the environment, economy, culture, community, and welfare. This is an opportunity not only to deepen exchanges between students from universities and graduate schools with policy-related departments, but also to students from universities and seminars beyond the boundaries of universities and seminars, and to disseminate policy proposals and information based on the results of your daily research and learning to the local community.
We look forward to seeing your presentations!

The 13th Kyoto Policy Research Exchange Conference Call for Presenters
Held on Sunday, December 3rd (Event details)
This year, the 13th year of the conference, we received applications from a wide range of subjects, not only from policy-related faculties but also from other faculties and universities. A total of 72 groups (56 oral presentations and 16 panel presentations) passed the presentation selection process and presented their research in various fields related to urban policy in 10 subcommittees and the panel presentation venue.
In addition, during the judging time, a student event planned and managed by the conference student executive committee was held, entitled “Challenge for the future!!”, in which guests Takashi Yamada (Chief of the City Promotion Section, Regional Revitalization Promotion Division, Planning and Policy Department, Shiojiri City Hall) and Kentaro Suda (CEO of Freeplus Co., Ltd.) were invited to give a lecture and hold a discussion. It was an opportunity for participants to think about the challenges they could take on together with the guests and gain new insights.
At the award ceremony that followed, research encouragement awards were awarded to outstanding presentations, and the venue was filled with cheers and excitement every time the award winners were announced. The award winners shared their impressions, as well as comments about the difficulties they faced in writing their papers and presenting their papers, and the creative aspects they used. The presenters’ thoughts about the conference showed that it was an opportunity for them to learn a lot and find fulfillment in their work.

We are working on the research topic designated by the University Consortium Kyoto in 2017, and are conducting research and studies on what kind of realizations, growth, and learning participants have gained from the “Academic Exchange” of students across universities and faculties, centered on the “Policy Research Exchange Conference from Kyoto” held by the University Consortium
Kyoto, as well as the future direction of the event. As part of this, we are conducting the following questionnaire survey of faculty and students from member universities of the University Consortium Kyoto to understand the awareness and participation of the “Policy Research Exchange Conference from Kyoto,” whether there are any other opportunities for academic exchange besides the Policy Research Exchange Conference, and expectations for the University Consortium Kyoto.
We would appreciate your cooperation in completing the following questionnaire survey, despite your busy schedule.
