Business overview
The high school curriculum guidelines (March 2009) now include a description of “career education,” and there is a demand for the development of career and vocational education aimed at social and professional independence from primary and secondary education through to higher education. In light of this, the Kyoto High School-University Collaboration Research Council began planning a “career education” project in 2012 with the aim of stimulating high school students’ motivation to learn for the future and contributing to the promotion of career education in each school.
Kyoto Katariba
This program aims to bring out the motivation within high school students by having them talk with current university students about their current selves and their future goals, and by listening to the university students’ experiences, to encourage high school students to think about their own futures.

“Maruttoku” project for students in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture
This program is aimed at high school students in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, who have fewer opportunities to come into contact with “universities” on a daily basis compared to the southern part of the prefecture. By creating an opportunity to hear about the various experiences and thoughts of university students and local working adults, the program aims not only to foster an image of continuing on to higher education, but also to provide an opportunity for students to think about their own futures.

Projects for female students and university students
This program allows female high school and university students who are about to choose their career paths to hear about the reality of diverse career experiences from the perspectives of women who are actually working in society, and to deepen their understanding through group discussions.By providing an opportunity for discussion, the program aims to help them understand the reality that work-life balance is more important than men, to think about career development from a long-term perspective, and ultimately to recognize the need to establish self-awareness about their future career paths and to improve their awareness, work ethic, and career outlook as the next generation of professionals, and to use this knowledge to help them choose their future career paths.
