“What is the charm of Kyoto?” and “What kind of country is Japan?” Why don’t you actually experience the traditional culture of Japan and learn the know-how of English presentations so that you can introduce it in English when asked by people from overseas?
Students who are planning to study abroad, who are interested in studying abroad in the future, who want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas in Japan, and who are not good at English presentations! Why don’t you learn English while having fun with like-minded friends beyond the boundaries of universities?
🌸🌸 Outline of “Presentation on Kyoto in English” Updated 🌸🌸on May 9
Through the experience of traditional culture in Kyoto and Japan, we will conduct a total of seven half-day training sessions to acquire presentation skills in English.
◎ Training days and scheduled contents (7 sessions in total):
1. Saturday, May 24, 2025 :(1) Ice Break, Introduction to Japan and Kyoto ~Learn about Japan and Kyoto in English~
(2) Learn expressions related to Japan’s traditional culture in English
2. Saturday , May 31, 2025: Noh Theater Appreciation (Kongo Noh Theater) and International Student Exchange Event
3. Saturday , June 7, 2025: Traditional Culture Experience I. (1) Tea Ceremony Experience (2) Expression of tea ceremony culture in English

5. Saturday , June 21, 2025 : Traditional Culture Experience II. (1) Flower Arrangement Experience (2) Talk in English about Kyoto’s famous places, events, food, clothing, housing, and education in Japan and Kyoto
6. Saturday , June 28, 2025 : Presentation English manuscript correction course (online only)
7. Saturday, July 5, 2025: Individual English Presentation
◎Time: 13:00~16:30 (with break)
◎ Location: Campus Plaza Kyoto, etc. (depending on the content of the training, there is a transfer within Kyoto city)
◎ Eligibility: All of the following conditions must be met.
1. Be a Japan student at a member university or junior college of the University Consortium Kyoto [Undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral course is not required]
2. Ability to participate in all training sessions
3. Your English score must be one of the following:
IELTS 5.0 or higher / TOEFL iBT 50 or higher / TOEIC 600 or higher / Eiken Level 2 or higher
4. Interested in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding
◎ Capacity: 20 people (first-come, first-served basis) * Application has been closed.
◎ Fee: 5,000 yen (total amount for all 7 sessions, including reference materials and actual expenses for exercises)
* Please pay in cash (with as little change as possible) on Saturday, May 25 for the first time.

* Selection will be made based on document screening and interviews in Japanese.

【Operation of the Kyoto Study Abroad Portal Site and Social Media Management
Proposal Guidelines]
The International Student Study Kyoto Network (Secretariat: Kyoto International Business Department, University Consortium) aims to widely disseminate the appeal of “Kyoto University City and Student City Kyoto” and services for international students in Kyoto both domestically and internationally, to support the attraction of more international students, and to make it easier for international students studying in Kyoto to obtain information on support services. We operate a portal site and manage social media.
Therefore, we are looking for contractors for this project in FY2025, so please consider participating in the proposal, and if you would like to participate, please prepare a plan proposal and quotation according to the following guidelines and submit it by the deadline.
*This project will be carried out as a preparatory act for the FY2025 project before the FY2025 budget of the International Student Study Kyoto Network is enacted, and the project may be canceled or the content of the project may be changed or reduced if the budget of this project is reduced at the general meeting of the network.
