10th Concept

kif_2012_2

The 10th Kyoto Student Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary, is the culmination of the past 10 years, and at the same time, we hope to make it a year of new beginnings with an eye on the next future.

At the 10th Kyoto Student Festival, we will enrich the entire Kyoto Student Festival by engaging in various activities throughout the year more than ever before.
In this process, we will build a deeper relationship with many people involved in the festival, weave each thought as a single "thread" of "empathy", and create it together as one! And we will build that "thread" thickly and sturdily so that it will lead to the Kyoto Student Festival in the future.

Activities other than the festival

Annual Ongoing Activities

Kyoen Makunashi! ・Koishiyo, Kyoto -Kyoto Student Festival-

The continuation activity "Kyoen Makunashi!", which was the first attempt this year, is an initiative that was started with the desire to "create a garden of connections (= Kyoen) in Kyoto where the curtain does not fall throughout the year (= Makunashi)." Events were held every month at various commercial facilities in Kyoto, and different executive committee members were in charge of everything from planning to operation, providing a place for experiences and step-ups for the main festival in October, and for visitors, it was a continuous activity that always created freshness.

Popularization of the original creation odori "Kyo Flame Sodefure!"

It has been eight years since the Kyoto Student Festival original creative odori "Kyo Flame Sodefure!" was born as a new cultural transmission of Kyoto, where all generations can enjoy and connect together. The number of odori hands has exceeded 900, and the number of odori performances and visiting classes aimed at popularizing odori has continued to increase to 569 times a year. As a new initiative from last year, we started a odori class aimed at creating a place where connections with local people are born, and this year we will send out "Kyo Flame Sodefure!" that can be enjoyed both by seeing and experiencing so that even more people will know about it.

KYO-SENSE Project

This year, we will continue to work on the "KYO-SENSE" project, an initiative originating from the Kyoto Student Festival that proposes a new lifestyle by reviewing the environment from everyday life while learning from the traditional culture that is common to Kyoto. While utilizing the sensibilities of students studying in Kyoto, we will disseminate eco-friendliness throughout the year.

Student Support

Student Growth Program

In this project, the executive committee members are divided into teams such as the Sales Department, Public Relations Department, and General Affairs Department, and work toward the success of the festival in cooperation with the government, companies, and local people. We believe that such relationships and practical experiences will lead to the acquisition of the skills necessary to survive in society, such as "basic skills for working adults" and "employment skills". In addition, in order to nurture students who will lead the university city of Kyoto, we will support students on a daily basis by positioning this project as a kind of project and a leader training program.

<Human resource development support >

reflection meeting

Kyoto Student Festival Management School

Marking the 10th anniversary of its birth, the course was co-sponsored by the Kyoto Association of Corporate Executives, the University Consortium Kyoto, the Kyoto Student Festival Executive Committee, and the Kyoto Student Festival Alumni Association in the hope that the unification of awareness will lead to further development and leaps forward in the future, as well as to look back on the progress so far, reaffirm the mission of this project once again, and hope that unification of awareness will lead to further development and leaps forward in the future.

A total of nine lectures were held, from the first session (February 25) with Representative Secretary Chikao Tanabe to the seventh session (April 21) by Representative Secretary Hase, as well as the orientation held prior to the first session and the eighth special lecture by Professor Keiji Hata of Ehime University, "If Dora (If Drucker Led the Kyoto Student Festival")". There were 35~40 participants each time, about 300 in total. As a general rule, each workshop was held by two instructors, and based on that, the students discussed with each other and threw them to the instructor.

The participants commented, "I began to think deeply about the mission of the student festival, and I was able to listen to the stories of business people I cannot meet on a daily basis, and I was able to realize that everyone has high expectations."

Reflection meeting (dissemination of results)

Sunday, October 12, 2012 Campus Plaza Kyoto
Lecturer: Masami Mori (Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kyoto Bunkyo University)
The students work together with the members to solve problems within the team and work as executive committee members to achieve results. Instead of leaving it unattended, we encourage learning, awareness, and application by remembering it. This time, in order to verbalize what the "learning" and "awareness" that were gained through the activities of the student festival were, we held a workshop to reflect on the actions taken to achieve the goals of the team and individuals.

Implementation Report

In the planning of this festival, the 10th anniversary project "Kyoto Lantern" was carried out, and Okazaki City Park was vividly colored at night, and as a commemorative song for the 10th Kyoto Student Festival, "Ordinary Today's Special Day" was produced by "Chicago Poodle", the band that won the 1st "Kyoto Student Music Award", and comfortable music was played in the precincts of Heian Jingu Shrine.
