Overview of the 22nd Kyoto-based Policy Research Exchange Conference

This year marks the 22nd edition of the conference since its inception in 2005.
The theme of the presentations is “General Urban Policy.” Research presentations will be given on policies to solve urban challenges from the perspectives of a wide range of fields, including environment, economy, culture, region, and welfare.
By seeing various presentations that transcend the boundaries of universities and faculties, you may find good inspiration for your future research. On the day of the conference, in addition to presentations, there will also be an exchange meeting with certified organizations of the Academic-City Collaboration Project, and other activities that students can enjoy.
Furthermore, after the conference, all presenters will receive a report card with their score and judges’ comments, as well as a comment sheet from attendees of the breakout sessions, so please make use of this feedback on your presentation. In addition, winners of top awards will be given the opportunity to exchange opinions with government officials related to their presentations after the conference, allowing them to deepen their research. Why not
present the results of your daily research and studies at this conference?

Presentation format on the day: Oral presentation
Presenters will submit their papers in advance and undergo a presenter eligibility review and paper review before giving their oral presentation on the day of the conference.
The presentation time will be 15 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for Q&A, for a total of 25 minutes.

■Award

We will comprehensively evaluate both the written papers and oral presentations, and award research encouragement prizes to outstanding presenters.

■Eligibility

Undergraduate and junior college students (individuals or groups) from member universities of the University Consortium Kyoto.
*For groups consisting of students from multiple universities, the representative must be a student from a member university of the University Consortium Kyoto.
*Administrative procedures related to the competition, such as entry and paper submission, must be carried out by the person who meets the above qualifications.

■ How to apply

Step 1: Entry　(Deadline: Friday, August 7, 2026, noon *Deadline extended)
Entry registration has closed.

Step 2: Paper Submission　(Deadline: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Noon)
Please enter the reference number assigned in Step 1 and the required information, and upload the paper converted to a PDF file along with the paper format checklist (the dedicated form for paper submission will be available in mid-September). Submission by email is not accepted.

When submitting your presentation, you will need to enter a “Presentation Summary (within 400 characters)” and select the “Target SDGs” logo on the form, so please prepare these in advance.

Post-submission process

We will review the submitted papers to determine eligibility to present, and in mid-November, we will notify you of your eligibility via the email address you provided in the application form.

• If the presentation is not prepared in the specified format, it may result in disqualification during the presenter qualification review or deductions during the paper review.
• Submitted papers will be subject to review.
• Please note that the papers presented by oral presenters will be published as data in a conference proceeding on this website.
• The research papers presented by the award-winning researchers, as well as the PowerPoint presentations used during their oral presentations, will be posted on this website and the “Gakumachi Station” university-community collaboration portal site after the conference (we will contact each participant individually to confirm whether their work will be posted).
