[For high school teachers] Recruiting participants for the 5th Kyoto High School Teachers Exchange Meeting on Saturday, February 1, 2020

The “Kyoto High School Teachers Exchange Meeting” is a place to exchange ideas and concerns about the management of schools and homerooms, improvement of classes, etc., and to share thoughts toward solutions, regardless of school or establishment.

This time, we will hold the 5th as follows.
This time, with the theme of “class experience to acquire problem-finding skills and gathering for exchange of opinions”, we will have a question-making class experience to acquire problem-finding skills in inquiry learning and integrated learning, and interaction between participants. I will.

For high school and university students, it is important for high school and university students to acquire the skills and mindset to design and implement a learning environment where learners can ask their own questions and explore those questions while learning from each other.
It is also important for us teachers to learn, understand, and be able to use new ways of learning to discover problems.
Therefore, this time, we aim to cultivate problem-finding skills in inquiry learning and integrated learning while interacting in group work.

We understand that you are busy, but we look forward to your active participation. Also, I would appreciate it if you could talk to the teachers you know.

[For high school teachers] Recruiting participants for the 4th Kyoto High School Teachers’ Exchange Meeting on Thursday, November 7th

The “Kyoto High School Teachers Exchange Meeting” is a place to exchange ideas and concerns about the management of schools and homerooms, improvement of classes, etc., and to share thoughts toward solutions, regardless of school or establishment.
This time, we will hold the 4th as follows.
In the 4th session, we will discuss and interact with each other about the creation of lessons, the development of teaching materials, and their evaluation, etc., centering on the research theme of science and mathematics research.
In the 2020 revision of the Course of Study, a new subject of “Exploration of Science and Mathematics” was established with the aim of “cultivating highly creative human resources who can bring about the creation of knowledge through academic research in the future.” In implementing this new subject, some high school students have voiced concerns about issues such as the selection of research themes and the development of a teaching system, and it is necessary to address these issues. Many high schools who struggle with mathematics, especially mathematics research themes, may not be able to systematically organize why it is so difficult. In addition, from the perspective of improving the quality of research, there is also a shortage of faculty colleagues who can research and evaluate the selection of research themes themselves and consider them together. It may be possible to get hints from the practice case reports of research themes that have already been implemented and the individual research tasks of research activities such as SSH.
At this faculty exchange meeting, we would like to share the current issues and collaborate with high school and university teachers to find hints for solving these issues and think about the meaning of mathematics research.

We understand that you are busy, but we look forward to your active participation. Also, I would appreciate it if you could talk to the teachers you know.

“2019 Kotaisha Collaboration Future Session” was held!

The 2019 Kotaisha Collaboration Future Session was held at Campus Plaza Kyoto on September 22nd (Sunday) and at Fukuchiyama Public University on September 29th (Sunday).
This Future Session, which is in its fourth year this year, is a career education program that aims to encourage the career development of high school and university students, and involves dialogue and exchange across generations and schools, such as high school students, university students, and working adults.
This year, the event was held at two venues, one in Kyoto and the other in northern Kyoto, with 26 high school and university students attending the venue in Kyoto and 54 at the venue in northern Kyoto.

The invited guests this time were Mr. Noriaki Imai, Chairman of the certified NPO D is. At each venue, the two of them looked back on their high school and university days under the theme of “What kind of work will society need in the future?” and talked about changes in thinking, realizations, and triggers up to the present day. Thank you for your talk.
After listening to the guest lecture for an hour, each group shared their impressions and formulated questions for the guests. Both guests carefully answered each question from each group.
Afterwards, we held a World Café as part of our group work, and deepened our thinking about work by listening to opinions from other groups regarding the theme of this time, “What kind of work will society need in the future?”

Through interacting with students and university students from other schools that they would not normally meet, the participants were able to experience a variety of opinions and spend a meaningful time full of insights and learning.

◆Guest
Mr. Noriaki Imai (Chairman of Certified NPO D×P)

Born in Sapporo in 1985. Graduated from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. When she was in high school, she founded an NGO that provided medical assistance to children in Iraq. When she traveled to Iraq for this activity, she was held hostage by local armed groups. After she returned to Japan, she received a lot of criticism, saying that she was at her own risk. After working at a specialized trading company in Osaka, she established the NPO DxP in 2012 to support students who, like herself, had the same experience of being rejected by adults. She provides youth support for correspondence and part-time high school students, and aims to create a “society where each young person can have hope for their future.”
