FY2012

Outline of the event

Main

Theme_2012

One year and six months have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake (2011). It is the strong wish of the entire Japanese people, not to mention the local people, that the wide disaster-stricken areas of Tohoku and Kanto be revived as future-oriented communities with hope and vitality. In order to rebuild and reconstruct local communities, it is more necessary than ever to involve students and citizens who think and act under public purposes.
This forum will develop programs in line with the theme of "Creating Vibrant and Attractive Local Communities." In the keynote speech, university officials, junior high and high school students, university students, citizens, and other people of all ages will be convinced of "hope" and "courage" through a lecture by Professor Junichiro Kawaguchi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, who led the return of Hayabusa to Earth. In the symposium, we will consider how to be a behavior-oriented citizen who aims to "create an attractive local community" and "improve the quality of life (QOL)" through efforts to rebuild the disaster-stricken areas. In the breakout sessions, we will discuss the role of university consortiums in creating local communities. In addition, we will share examples of distinctive activities of the University Consortium and disseminate the results.
