“What makes Kyoto attractive?” “What kind of country is Japan?” When asked by people from overseas, why not learn how to experience traditional Japanese culture in English and learn how to present about Kyoto and Japan in English?
Although we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, if you are planning to study abroad in the future, are interested in studying abroad, or want to explain Kyoto and Japan to people from overseas in Japan… If you are thinking about this, please feel free to join us!
~~Outline of “Presentation on Kyoto in English” ~~
We will hold a total of six half-day training sessions to learn English expressions about Kyoto’s tourist attractions and Kyoto’s traditional culture.
Implementation format: In-person Time: 13:30~17:00 (with break)
Training Days and Scheduled Contents (6 sessions in total):
1. Saturday, May 28, 2022 :(1) Ice Break, Introduction to Japan and Kyoto ~Learn About Japan and Kyoto in English~
(2) Learn expressions in English to describe traditional Japanese culture
2. Saturday, June 4, 2022: Experience Traditional Culture (1) Tea Ceremony in Person
3. June 11, 2022 (Sat): Traditional Culture (2) Hands-on Experience of Flower Arrangement
4. June 18, 2022 (Sat): Garden Tour (Murin-an)
5. July 2, 2022 (Sat): Learn about Kyoto’s famous landmarks, events, clothing, food, and shelter in Japan and Kyoto, and education,
Discuss with international students
6. July 9, 2022 (Sat): Individual Presentation
◎ Eligibility: Must meet all of the following conditions
1. You must be a Japanese student at a university or junior college affiliated with the Kyoto University Consortium
(No restrictions on enrolled programs (undergraduate, master’s, doctoral)
2. Ability to participate in all training sessions
3. Your English score must meet one of the following criteria:
IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 63 / TOEIC 650 or above
4. Interest in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding
◎ Capacity: About 20 people
◎ Tuition fee: 5,000 yen (including reference materials and actual training costs, totaling 6 sessions)
* Please pay in cash (preferably without change) on Saturday, May 28 for the first round.
* Please bear all transportation and other expenses related to the course yourself.
