Outline of the event

7th Concept

kif_2009_1

kif_2009_2

The 7th Kyoto Student Festival aims to "deepen" the entire Kyoto Student Festival by improving the quality of the project, activating regional exchanges, and deepening industry-academia-government collaboration. By doing so, we will lay the foundation for the further "evolution" of the student festival in the future, and through this festival, we will strive to spread the "smile" that is the origin of the festival to everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival.
With the idea of "making Kyoto a city full of smiles and vitality" into the concept of "Kyoto Festival that spreads smiles ~From 'evolution' to 'deepening'~", we will create an even more attractive festival than ever before.

Through a festival with a sense of unity created by all people working together, we will transmit the students' desire to make as many people as possible smile and be energized from Kyoto to the whole country.

Activities other than the festival

Annual Ongoing Activities

Popularization of the original creation odori "Kyo Flame Sodefure!"

At the Kyoto Student Festival, as a way to transmit the new culture of Kyoto in the creation of the festival, we want to have fun with everyone from small children to the elderly! What we created with this thought is this "Kyo Flame Sodefure!". At the seventh edition, the number of dancers was close to 560, bringing the total number of performances and deliveries to about 280 per year.

Kyo Flame Mikoshi

Mikoshi, which is said to carry people's thoughts and wishes, will be loaded with the thoughts of the Kyoto Student Festival, a new power created by Kyoto, a city of students, with the aim of revitalizing Kyoto. By wishing for the well-being of students and citizens studying in Kyoto and wanting to further enliven Kyoto, we will convey that desire and make it something that will be passed down together with Kyo Flame Mikoshi.

Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival ~ Kyoto Student Festival Parade ~
This year as well, on Sanjo Street, we will carry the thoughts of citizens and students. In addition, various projects will be held around Shinpukan and Sanjo Street to liven up Sanjo Street with the power of students!

Interaction between university
students and local festivals By participating in the Kyoto Student Festival and local festivals as mikoshi bearers and enjoying the festival together with the participants, we will create a place for community exchange, demonstrate the energy of the students, and enliven Kyoto as a whole.

Community exchange with students and children (Mikoshi creative group)
We support the creation of "creative mikoshi" by groups participating in parades at kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and children's halls in Kyoto.

KYO-SENSE Project

In order to make the festival rooted in the city of Kyoto, the Kyoto Student Festival has been working on a new project in its sixth year. Because Kyoto is a city of students, we will send out new messages from the standpoint of students!
In holding the festival, we want to reduce the burden on the environment as much as possible. Through this festival, we would like to convey the charm of Kyoto to as many people as possible. While students learn ancient wisdom and today's wisdom, we propose a sustainable social model.

Community Exchange Activities

Okazaki Night PatrolWe
have been focusing on community exchange. Especially in the Okazaki area, which is used as a venue, we hold a night patrol every month. In recognition of these efforts, in 2007 we received a security guard and a security jumper from the Kawabata Crime Prevention Association. This year as well, we will put more effort into regional exchange than ever before to make the festival more exciting.

We are helping with summer festivals in the Annei and Meiyai areas of Motoanning Elementary School, which we use as a base for participating in summer festivals in various places, and summer festivals
in the Okazaki area. Also, at summer festivals in other regions, Kyo Flame Sodefure! We are showing off.

Implementation Report

By activating regional exchanges and deepening industry-academia-government collaboration, we aimed to "deepen" the Kyoto Student Festival as a whole. By doing so, we laid the foundation for the further "evolution" of the later student festival, and through this festival, we worked to spread the "smile" that is the origin of the festival to everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival.
As a result of the launch of the new KYO-SENSE project and the Heisei Shinsengumi Project, we were able to attract a total of 227,000 visitors, the largest number ever over the two days.
