Overview of the business
Approximately 50 universities and organizations that are members of the University Consortium Kyoto offer unique lifelong learning courses. This "University Relay Course," which started in 2016, is held at Campus Plaza Kyoto in a relay format by each university in order to let the public know about various unique courses that make use of the characteristics of each university, other than the courses previously provided to Kyoto College.

"Life Ending Life in Ancient India"
Instructor: Kazuhiko Yamamoto (Professor, Department of Buddhist Studies, Faculty of Letters, Otani University)
In ancient India, life was divided into four phases: student period, home period, forest dwelling period, and excursion period. The forest dwelling period is the period of life from retirement to death, and modern Japan cannot avoid this period. In this course, we will introduce the life of the forest dwelling period in ancient India from Buddhist scriptures.

"Buddha and Hōran-san -Exploring its Charm-"

Buddha, who chanted Buddhism in ancient India, and Hōran, who opened the Pure Land sect in medieval Japan. Although they lived in different eras, regions, and teachings, they have in common that they are religious people who have initiated a paradigm shift. In this lecture, I would like to compare the two people, think about their personalities and human charm, and reconsider the significance they left in the history of thought.

Since Tanizaki himself was making films at the dawn of Japan cinema, he talks about the relationship between literature and cinema and the appeal of each.

In the Japan there are Japanese bees and wild Japanese bees, which are raised as livestock. I am focusing on the differences between the two, and the ecological differences between them are interesting. In addition, when we developed a bee attractant based on the results of our research, it began to be used as an award for Japanese honey bee lovers.
