 By actually experiencing Japanese traditional culture, we will be able to introduce Kyoto and Japanese culture in English when people from overseas ask us, “What’s attractive about Kyoto?” “What kind of country is Japan?” Would you like to learn how to give presentations about Kyoto and Japan in English?
 If you are planning to study abroad, are interested in studying abroad in the future, or would like to explain Kyoto and Japan to people overseas in Japan, please come and join us!

~~Summary of “Presentation of Kyoto in English” ~~

A total of six half-day training sessions will be held to learn English expressions about tourist attractions in Kyoto and traditional culture in Kyoto and Japan.

◎ Implementation mode : Face-to-face
Time : 13:30-17:00 (with break)
Training dates and scheduled content (6 sessions in total):  
1. May 27, 2023 (Saturday): ① Ice Break, Kyoto, Japan Overview ~ Learning about Japan and Kyoto in English ~
   ② Learning expressions to explain Japanese traditional culture in English
2. June 3, 2023 (Saturday): Traditional Culture ① Actually experiencing flower arrangement
3. June 2023 10th (Saturday): Garden tour (Heian Jingu Shrine Garden)
4. June 17th, 2023 (Saturday): Traditional culture ② Experience the tea ceremony
5. June 24th, 2023 (Saturday): Famous sights in Kyoto, Learn about events, food, clothing, shelter, education, etc. in Japan and Kyoto, and discuss with international students
6. July 8, 2023 (Saturday): Individual presentation

◎ Application qualifications : All of the following conditions must be met
1. Membership of University Consortium Kyoto Must be a Japanese student at a university or junior college
 (regardless of the course of study (undergraduate, master’s, doctoral))
2. Must be able to participate in all training programs
3. Must have an English score of one of the following
IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 63 / TOEIC 650 / Eiken Pre-1st grade or above
4. Interested in international exchange and cross-cultural understanding

◎Capacity: 15 people
◎Course fee : 5,000 yen (total amount for all 6 sessions, including reference materials and actual practice costs)
*Payment in cash (as much as possible to avoid leaving change) on the first Saturday, May 27th Please pay.
*Each participant is responsible for their own transportation and other expenses related to the course.
◎Application period: Friday, April 7, 2023 – Friday, April 21, 2023 (noon) [Applications have ended] 
*If there are a large number of applicants, a lottery will be held and applicants will be notified via email in early May of whether or not they can participate. It will be announced.

* Please note that the holding method and content may change depending on the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
Please note that in the case of online training (with the possibility of some face-to-face training), it is essential that you have access to the Internet and a computer environment with a camera and microphone that can access the online training.
*The implementation of the “Kyoto PR Student Ambassador” program in 2023 has not yet been determined. (We plan to decide this and inform the participants before the start of the training.)
