Overview of the business
Approximately 50 universities and organizations that are members of the University Consortium Kyoto offer unique lifelong learning courses. This "University Relay Course," which started in 2016, is held at Campus Plaza Kyoto in a relay format by each university in order to let the public know about various unique courses that make use of the characteristics of each university, other than the courses previously provided to Kyoto College.

"The Life of Buddha and His Thought"
Instructor: Kan Sasaki (Professor, Department of Buddhist Studies, Faculty of Letters)
We will introduce the original Buddhist thought, which cannot be known just by looking at Buddhism in Japan, while tracing the life of Buddha. It is full of wisdom of innovative ways of living that are useful even in modern society.

"Contemporary Literature and the Power of 'Stories' ~Junichiro Tanizaki, "The Tale of Genji", Haruki Murakami~"
Instructor: Atsushi Nishino (Lecturer, Faculty of Humanities)
Tanizaki Junichiro, in his dispute with Akutagawa Ryunosuke, argued that the Japan literature in which the most "interesting story" was The Tale of Genji. From classic literature such as The Tale of Genji to examples such as Haruki Murakami's "Kafka by the Seaside" and Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name," we will consider the state of "stories" in modern times.

The university has concluded a tripartite agreement with Nachikatsuura Town in Wakayama Prefecture to promote cultural exchange and promotion activities in various ways. As part of this effort, this course will deliver a history lecture about Kumano by Kumano Nachi Taisha Miyaji, who celebrated its 1700th anniversary in 2017, and faculty members of the Department of History of Kumano University.

Let's think about "growth" and "aging" from multiple perspectives about health promotion for children and the elderly <future> from multiple perspectives. While being aware of the similarities between the growth and development of children and the health promotion of the elderly, we plan to introduce "exercise using the mind and body" that can be enjoyed while sitting.
