8th Concept

kif_2010_1

kif_2010_2

In the 8th Kyoto Student Festival, we will clarify the characteristics of this year, create a festival that will remain in the memory of visitors, and aim to be loved by everyone involved in the Kyoto Student Festival, including local residents.
In order to make the Kyoto Student Festival a new traditional festival in Kyoto, we will continue to invigorate regional exchanges and deepen collaboration between industry, academia and government, so that this festival will permeate the community and become a festival that is supported.
With the idea of "using the power of students to make Kyoto an even more vibrant and overflowing city," we will create an even more attractive festival than ever before, incorporating the concept of "a festival that will remain in memory and be loved."

By creating a festival that will be remembered and loved by all people working together, we will transmit the students' passion to further revitalize Kyoto from Kyoto to the whole country and the world.

The number of odori moves has reached about 750, and the number of odori performances and visiting classes has continued to increase to about 360 times a year. This year's Kyo Flame Sodefure! Kyo Flame Mikoshi

Mikoshi, which is said to carry people's thoughts and wishes, will be loaded with the thoughts of the Kyoto Student Festival, a new power created by Kyoto, a city of students, with the aim of revitalizing Kyoto. By wishing for the well-being of students and citizens studying in Kyoto and wanting to further enliven Kyoto, we will convey that desire and make it something that will be passed down together with Kyo Flame Mikoshi.

Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival ~ Kyoto Student Festival Parade ~
This year as well, on Sanjo Street, we will carry the thoughts of citizens and students. In addition, various projects will be held around Shinpukan and Sanjo Street to liven up Sanjo Street with the power of students!

kif_2010_4

Interaction between university
students and local festivals By participating in the Kyoto Student Festival and local festivals as mikoshi bearers and enjoying the festival together with the participants, we will create a place for community exchange, demonstrate the energy of the students, and enliven Kyoto as a whole.

Community exchange with students and children (Mikoshi creative group)
We support the creation of "creative mikoshi" by groups participating in parades at kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, and children's halls in Kyoto.

KYO-SENSE Project

KYO-SENSE will make use of the sensibilities of students studying in Kyoto, where the Kyoto Protocol was launched, to make it a globally friendly festival loved by the local community, the city of Kyoto, and the whole country. Last year, as a part of the Planning and Management Department, the community, companies, and students worked together to make use of ancient wisdom and today's wisdom. We have proposed a sustainable social model. As a project of the newly established Regional Business Division, we will disseminate eco-friendly information from the Kyoto Student Festival throughout the year.

Community Exchange Activities

In the Okazaki area, which is used as a local night patrol
venue, night patrols are conducted on the 20th of every month. In recognition of these efforts, in 2007 we received a security guard and a security jumper from the Kawabata Crime Prevention Association.
In addition, on the 5th of every month, it is also held in the Annyeong-Meiyao area, which is the place of activity. We will continue to patrol for the safety and revitalization of the community.

We are helping with summer festivals in the Annei and Meiyai areas of Motoanning Elementary School, which we use as a base for participating in summer festivals in various places, and summer festivals
in the Okazaki area. Also, at summer festivals in other regions, Kyo Flame Sodefure! We are showing off.

Sanjo Kyo Flame Festival

The project that has been held in the Sanjo area so far has been positioned as an announcement parade of this festival, and a parade was held in Shijo Kawaramachi~Sanjo-dori, which is the center of Kyoto. We have also been planning music performances at Sanjo-dori.
This year's Sanjo Kyoita Festival will not only announce the festival, but will also be held during the summer vacation to bring the local people and students closer together. By creating such community-based projects, we aim to make the Kyoto Student Festival a festival that will remain in the memory of not only the people of the Sanjo region but also various people.

Date: Sunday, August 29, 2010 11:00~17:00
Venue: Sanjo-dori (Teramachi ~ Higashinotoin), in front of each facility along the street, in front of the store, Shinpukan (parade route: Shijo Kawaramachi ~ Kawaramachi Oike ~ Teramachi Oike ~ Teramachi Sanjo ~ Sanjo Higashinotoin ~ Shinpukan)
Planning:
・Parade
Kyoita Sodefure! , Kyo flame mikoshi, and the parade with various performance elements will open the curtain.
・ Music planning using the Shinpukan planning
stage, participatory projects, and Shinpukan finale planning.
・At Sanjo-dori Planning
Sanjo Street, the "KYO-SENSE Stamp Rally" involving the community and visitors and the "Sanjo Performance Road" to liven up the area with lively music will be held.

Implementation Report

Aiming for a new traditional festival in Kyoto, the concept is "a festival that will be remembered and loved." First of all, aiming for a festival loved by Kyoto, we placed importance on interaction with the local community and established the Regional Business Department to put it into practice. We aimed to stimulate exchange with the local community through the planning of the Regional Business Division.

In addition, we focused on participatory planning to create a memorable festival for visitors and participants. As part of these efforts, we revived the "Dream Orchestra" and involved many people in the Kyoto Student Festival.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who came to the venue and all the people involved who supported us in various ways in holding this festival, and would like to report on the event.
