Business summary
At the University Consortium Kyoto, a public interest incorporated foundation, we are working on projects related to supporting students with disabilities, which is in high demand among our member schools, based on the “Act on Eliminating Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities” that came into effect in April 2016. This time, we will be holding a training session on “Study Support for Students with Disabilities (Basic Course)” as follows. We look forward to your participation.

Theme Academic support for students with disabilities (basic course)
- 1. the purpose
This training will be held primarily for academic affairs and student affairs staff on how to deal with students with disabilities, which is a necessity at many universities. Specialized departments and specialized supporters often play a central role in supporting students with disabilities, but depending on the size of the organization, it may be difficult to establish such a support system. Additionally, even if specialized departments have been established, departments that play a central role in university education and student support may be required to proactively respond to students with disabilities within their respective roles.
In April 2024, the revised Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities is scheduled to go into effect, making it a legal obligation for all universities, public and private, to provide reasonable accommodation to students with disabilities. At a time like this, we aim to once again acquire basic knowledge about supporting students with disabilities at universities, and to exchange practical opinions and information that can be put to use in daily work.

*Before the start (13:30-14:00), there will be an
exhibition (mini library) of AT (Assistive Technology) related to supporting students with disabilities. I will do it. Please take a look before starting the course.

① Faculty members who are in charge of academic affairs and student-related duties at universities and other higher education institutions.
② Faculty members who fall under the following categories may also participate, provided they understand the purpose of this training.
・For academic affairs and student-related duties, People who were in charge in the past or who may be in charge in the future,
people in entrance exam handling departments or career support departments
, people in charge of supporting students with disabilities who have little work experience at universities, etc.
